People Count is an award winning 32-part television series created, produced and
reported by Barbara Pyle and hosted by Jane Fonda. Filmed all around the world, it
put a human face on the key issues of environment and sustainable development.
These critical global issues are still the most important problems that must be solved
even today. The mission of People Count is to inform and inspire viewers to take
meaningful action by conveying a sense of empowerment and hope. This classic
programming captured ordinary people doing extraordinary things to create models of
sustainable development that could be replicated around the world.
These programs not only used television as a medium for entertainment, but also for
information and education that communicated positive solutions to global issues from
a personal perspective. There has not been another project like People Count before
or since. The issues addressed and solutions presented are more important and
relevant now than when these films were originally produced.
